I remembered I made a comic specifically for artist-related things. Time to get back to taking advantage of that.
This really is something that is so fun to do as an artist. There's really nothing quite as pleasing as knowing that people have gotten attached to your characters, and it makes it all the more fun-I MEAN TRAGIC when we make something horrible happen.
We aren't insane we swear. We just love to make you feel things.
Oh but don't worry; this doesn't apply to me, no sir. All of my characters will go along with their happy little lives for sure. Hehehehe

How to be an artist
Step 1. Create an OC.
Step 2. Get people attached to your OC with their enduring cuteness
OC: Oops, I fell on my tushy!
People: Awww...
Step 3. Make your OC's life a living hell. Really stab them (and by extension, your fans) right in the heart.
*STAB*
OC: Ow, my tummy!
Step 4. Drink the fans tears. Don't lose a drop. Laugh. Laugh at their pain. LAUGH AT THE PAIN YOU CAUSED THEM, YOU MONSTER.
Person: HOW DARE YOU.
Fan: WAAAHHHHH
OC: Owie...

Personally I love characters that make me feel something. When the characters personality and story are something that can feel so real and relate-able (even if it's purely a fantasy setting) it's a great feeling, even if it's something tragic it feels nice to have a character leave so much of an impact on you.
Plenty of my favorite characters have actually made me cry at some point. I want to make my characters feel as real as them.
